About The Founder

Adapt360 is owned and operated by Paul Smith. Paul graduated in 1989 with a Mechanical Engineering degree (BSME) from the University of California, San Diego. As a Product Development Engineer for Bioject Medical Technologies, Inc. (Portland, OR), Paul co-invented the "The Biojector® 2000" Needle-Free Jet Injection System (US patents 5,383,851       5,399,163       5,520,639...) Paul then joined EndoMedix, formerly Baxter Healthcare's Technology and Ventures Division (Irvine, CA) as a Manufacturing Engineer for medical endoscopes and ultrasound devices. Paul then founded SimmPro Systems, Inc., in 1996 and SSI Robotics in 2000.

With SimmPro and SSI, Paul led his team in the development, manufacture, marketing, website/internet promotion, global distribution, sales and support of several innovative products sold throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The firms patented three products (US Patents 5,704,489       5,954,205       6,218,852). SSI quickly became the world leader in their narrow niche markets for memory board test handlers. 400 machines were sold in the first five years. In 2001, the “dot com” crash forced the company to seek new markets. Paul’s company was able to adapt to new business realities, turning perceived threats into a new opportunities as it morphed into a medical and laboratory equipment manufacturer. Nearly all promotion was conducted on the internet resulting in sales to Pfizer, 3M, Medtronic and many Fortune 500s. After development of its MINILAB, FLASH and MINIFLASH Lab Automation products, the company was sold to a large automation firm. Paul continued to lead the sales efforts for these products before launching Adapt360 in 2008.
